Last updated 3 September 2026
These terms govern your use of the Builder in My Pocket app and any services bought through it. Builder in My Pocket is operated by Builder in My Pocket, a sole trader, of Suite 750, 80A Ruskin Avenue, Welling, DA16 3QQ, United Kingdom. By creating an account or using the app you accept these terms.
These terms and any dispute relating to them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
You must be 18 or over to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity carried out under your account. We may update, change or withdraw features as the app develops.
All calculator outputs — quantities, areas, volumes, waste allowances, pack and bag counts, and any costs — are estimates only, produced from the figures you enter and from typical UK material sizes and assumptions.
They are not a specification, a structural design, a bill of quantities or a quotation, and they do not replace site-specific checks, drawings, engineer's calculations, Building Regulations approval or supplier confirmation.
You are responsible for verifying all measurements on site, for the suitability of the materials and methods you choose, and for checking prices and quantities with your suppliers before ordering. Always allow for site conditions, tolerances and cutting waste.
We are not responsible for over-ordering, under-ordering, wasted materials, delays or reworking caused by relying on an estimate without carrying out these checks.
The app does not provide structural engineering, architectural, surveying, legal, planning or financial advice. Where works require a qualified professional — including structural elements, foundations, drainage, gas, electrical and notifiable works — you must obtain appropriate professional input and any necessary approvals.
We do not currently hold professional indemnity or public liability insurance for the services described in these terms. We will update these terms if and when such cover is arranged.
Expert Advice services — including quick questions, project consultations, site visits and project-management enquiries — are separate, chargeable services. Submitting an enquiry is a request only: no contract exists until we confirm the scope, price, date and any applicable expenses and you accept them.
Payment. Payment must be made in full before the confirmed appointment or site visit takes place, once the price, date and any agreed expenses have been agreed.
Response times. Where we mention a response time for a quick question — such as within 24 hours — this is a target and not a guarantee.
Expenses. Any additional accommodation, travel, parking or similar expenses will be disclosed to you and agreed before those costs are committed. You will never be charged for expenses you have not agreed in advance.
Cancelling or rescheduling. Please give at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Where you cancel with at least 48 hours' notice, we may deduct from any refund the reasonable non-refundable costs already incurred specifically for your booking (for example pre-booked accommodation, travel or parking), where it is lawful to do so. Where you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, or do not attend, the service fee will normally be non-refundable. We may use reasonable discretion in exceptional circumstances. Your statutory cancellation and refund rights as a consumer always apply, and nothing here removes them.
If we cancel. If we cancel a confirmed service, we will refund everything you have paid for it in full, or agree an alternative date with you. We will not pass on to you any costs we have incurred and cannot recover.
Advice is given in good faith on the information you supply and, for site visits, on what is visible without opening up the structure. It is not a survey, a warranty on works carried out by others, or a substitute for a formal inspection.
The app offers a Free plan (£0), Pro at £7.99 per month and Builder Pro at £14.99 per month. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly and renew automatically each month until cancelled.
You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period, and you keep paid access until then. We do not normally give refunds for part of a billing period, subject always to your statutory consumer cancellation and refund rights.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details. Feature availability by plan may change as the app develops; we will give reasonable notice of any change that materially reduces a paid plan, and you may cancel if you do not accept it.
Do not misuse the app: no unlawful use, no attempting to breach security or access other users' data, no scraping or bulk extraction of content, no reselling or white-labelling the calculators, and no uploading unlawful or offensive content in project notes or enquiries. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.
The app, its calculators, content, design and branding belong to us or our licensors. You get a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the app for your own building projects or your own business's projects.
Your project data remains yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store and display it to you and to operate the service.
We aim to keep the app available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, third-party outages and updates may cause downtime. You should keep your own records of anything critical to your project.
We will use reasonable care and skill in providing the app and any Expert Advice service. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of contracts, or loss arising from reliance on estimates without the checks described in sections 3 and 4.
Where we are liable, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid to us for the service the claim relates to — for a subscription, the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim arose; for an Expert Advice service, the fee paid for that service.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights — including rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 — are unaffected.
